Sawks

So glad the Red Sox beat the evil empire. As a fan of a small market team it's tough to care much about the second highest payroll beating the highest, but that's the way it goes.

My music is all over the map today. Traffic, 10CC, Interpol, Super Furry Animals.

Netflix brings the eyes of Tammy Faye, but baseball comes first.

Supposed to be 92 today, not very fall like. I have to go to a BS luncheon at some hotel near downtown today, and I'm so not looking forward to it. Otherwise a bit boring this morning.

I think you'll enjoy The Eyes of Tammy Faye. It's so easy to make fun of her. But this documentary treats her with a bit of respect, mainly because, if I remember correctly, it's told from a gay point of view. Tammy Faye is the only televangelist to reach out to gay people during the beginning of the AIDs crisis, and has never condemned them. And gay people love her for it, and the obvious camp that goes along with Tammy Faye. When I saw this in the theater, the audience was an incredibly uncomfortable mix of young gay men and near elderly genuine Tammy Faye devotees from back in the day. And I couldn't help myself from laughing at some things in the movie along with the gay men in the audience. The older folks actually said "Why do they think that's funny?" My favorite part of the movie is footage of Jim and Tammy Faye doing one of their sing-songs on a TV set that's made to look like a beach scene complete with sand and a sail boat. During this footage, Tammy Faye is absolutely whacked out of her mind on pills. She looks around all childlike and says "Whoooooo. Look at the sail boat!!"
